Alper Sönmez received his Bachelor Degree in Economics in 2002 with the First-Class Honours Degree in the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences from Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Turkey. After graduation, he was accepted at the Ph.D. on BS program in Economics at Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey. From 2002 to 2012, he worked as a teaching & research assistant and continued his Ph.D. Studies in the Department of Economics at METU. He also spent one year at Cornell University, the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (AEM), as a Visiting Fellow in 2011. In 2012 he received his Ph.D. Degree, and he also received the 2012 “METU Thesis of the Year Award” granted by Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation. In July 2013 he was also awarded by the third prize in the "Fourth Contest for Academic Studies" organized by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB). Since February 2013, he has been affiliated with the Department of Economics at Selcuk University, Turkey.
